Non-Partisan Election Day Thoughts From The Drexler Law Firm

After a seemingly never-ending, grueling, one-of-a-kind, historic, pivotal and downright unbelievable Presidential campaign, the day to exercise the right to vote is finally upon us.  Without taking sides, here are some thoughts we want to share.

First and foremost, GO VOTE!

No matter who you stand for, no matter how much you dislike either candidate, the right to vote is fundamental to being an American citizen.  Your vote is your voice.

Your vote, although it might feel microscopic or non consequential, holds immense power. It is a right fought for and courageously defended throughout our history.  Your vote ensures that you played a role in our collective future American experience.

[df_blockquote ver=”1″ border_size=”4px” color=”#0F0F0F”]“The vote is the most powerful instrument ever devised by man for breaking down injustice and destroying the terrible walls which imprison men because they are different from other men.” – Lyndon B. Johnson [/df_blockquote]

It is not only the president you are voting for, but each proposition, judge, senate race, county measure or city ordinance can impact your daily life.

The subject propositions, measures and laws will come to life or die with your vote. Prepare, read, analyze and vote in whatever way you see fit. If something passes that you disagree with, at least you did what you could to support your positions, and, on the other hand, if you do vote for something that passes, you should feel pride that you contributed to something you believe in, and that you were a part of the democratic ideal.

Reviewing and studying the propositions and measures in your state, county, city and community only brings us closer together and makes us feel more of a part of the society as a whole.

We encourage people to discuss the options, all the way up and down the ballot.  As Americans, we have a constitutional right to free speech, and as long as our words are not inciting violence, we have the right to speak freely and share our opinions.

Controversial concepts and thoughts are pushed forward through the enthusiastic, yet respectful exchange of ideas and discussion and dialectic leads to greater understanding and progress.  Sometimes you can learn the most from someone who completely disagrees with you and there is no reason whatsoever why these discussions cannot be undertaken with empathy, compassion and respect for each other’s opinions.

Our recommendation: VOTE and STAY POSITIVE.

No matter what happens or who wins, on November 9th we all have to come together.  Nothing that happens on the 8th should be construed as the end of the world. We still live within the United States of America, a country fundamentally dedicated to the rights of each and every one of us no matter our race, religion or affiliations. Those fundamental constructs can and will survive regardless of who wins this election.

Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton WILL BE THE NEXT PRESIDENT and whoever it is, it does no good for our country to complain, become embittered, stonewall progress, or challenge the result without just cause.

On November 9th we have to get up, go to work and strive to do the best we can, one day at a time for our families and loved ones.

Do not get bogged down into negativity. We all still have much to be grateful for.

We live in the best country in the world.

The Drexler Law Firm, which is comprised of people from many different cultural backgrounds and political philosophies only wishes for a prosperous future for the United States of America and for everyone to have the freedom, good health and resolve to pursue the futures they see for themselves.

Wise Words From Our Founding Fathers:

[df_blockquote ver=”1″ border_size=”4px” color=”#0F0F0F”]“I am well aware of the Toil and Blood and Treasure that it will cost us to maintain this Declaration, and support and defend these States. Yet through all the Gloom I can see the Rays of ravishing Light and Glory. I can see that the End is more than worth all the Means. And that Posterity will triumph in that Day’s Transaction.” John Adams, 1776[/df_blockquote]

[df_blockquote ver=”1″ border_size=”4px” color=”#0F0F0F”]“We have abundant reason to rejoice, that, in this land, the light of truth and reason has triumphed over the power of bigotry and superstition, and that every person may here worship God according to the dictates of his own heart.” George Washington, 1793[/df_blockquote]
